Mission Statement

I have a Master’s degree in Counseling from Northeastern State University, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in English. While at Northeastern, I was on the Presidents Honor Roll and in a number of on campus clubs, including the Psychology Club. Previous to that, I had received my Associate’s degree in Psychology from Connors State College. I am currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Arkansas, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

While obtaining my Master’s degree from Northeastern State University, I completed my internship in the northeastern Oklahoma area. Post-graduation from the Master’s program, I passed the National Board of Certified Counselors Examination and the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensed Professional Counselor Examination. I completed my candidacy of 3000+ hours of post graduate work at a community behavioral health agency. At this time, I have near four years of experience in the field of professional counseling.

During my time as a therapist, I have had the pleasure of working with a variety of clientele, including individual clients, family systems, couples and the LGBTQ+ community. At one time, I was the director and facilitator of a local, court approved, Adult Anger Management Program. I have counseled a variety of therapeutic issues including relationship difficulties, grief, anxiety, depression, postpartum depression and PTSD. While my preferred therapeutic method is Person-Center Therapy, I have practiced a great deal of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as Solution-Focused Therapy. It is a strongly held personal belief that a therapist should meet the client where they are in life and then proceed from there. I foster an environment of openness, inclusion, and positivity with no judgement. I can be a supportive catalyst for positive change in a person’s life, no matter what stage of life they are in.

A little about myself: I was born and raised in the northeastern Oklahoma area and attended school in Muskogee, Oklahoma from kindergarten to graduation. I have a vested interest in Oklahoma and am involved with numerous organizations that work to bring awareness, not only to the Muskogee area, but Oklahoma as a whole, regarding positive mental health awareness. I currently live-in northeastern Oklahoma with my blue heeler, Roxie, who acts as the official mascot for Inclusive Behavioral Health, PLLC.

Take care,

Angela M. Garner, MS, LPC
